Can Newcastle United Sign Hugo Ekitike To Partner Alexander Isak?

Newcastle United have stepped up their interest in Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, with sources confirming the club is exploring a deal potentially worth over £70 million.

The 23-year-old Frenchman enjoyed a standout season in the Bundesliga, scoring 15 goals and providing eight assists as Frankfurt secured a third-place finish. Ekitike joined the German side permanently last summer from Paris Saint-Germain, following a successful loan spell, and is currently under contract until 2028.

Despite targeting Ekitike, Newcastle are reportedly not considering any offers for Alexander Isak, who has drawn attention from clubs across Europe, including Liverpool. The 25-year-old Swedish striker, who joined from Real Sociedad in 2022 for a club-record £63 million, was Newcastle’s top scorer last season.

Newcastle, who finished fifth in the Premier League, are building a competitive squad ahead of their Champions League return. Last week, they completed the £55 million signing of Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest.

The Magpies’ pursuit of Ekitike signals their ambition to deepen attacking options, but without sacrificing key assets like Isak.
