KCB Rugby has turned its focus to the upcoming Kenya Cup playoffs after falling 11-10 to Black Pirates in the Enterprise Cup quarterfinal at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

The Pirates took an early lead through Mukore Wayne, who converted a penalty to settle early nerves. They extended their advantage to 6-0 after another successful penalty, capitalizing on KCB captain Bob Muhati’s temporary sin-bin.

KCB struggled to break through a solid Pirates defense in the first half, which ended 6-0 in favor of the hosts.

After the break, KCB responded with a try from Sheldon Kahi to narrow the gap, but a missed conversion kept Pirates ahead. The hosts replied with a try from Okelo to stretch the lead to 11-5.

KCB kept pushing, with Michael Wekesa scoring to bring them within a point. However, another missed conversion proved costly as they failed to take the lead.

Pirates held firm in the closing stages to secure a narrow 11-10 victory.

KCB forwards coach Brian Nyikuli said the team will now shift full focus to the Kenya Cup playoffs, where their season will be decided. Captain Bob Muhati added that despite the loss, the team remains confident it will finish strong.
