SC Villa spokesman resigns amid row over presidential nomination fee

SC Villa’s spokesperson and executive member, Asan Kasingye, has resigned following a dispute over the club’s presidential nomination fee.

Kasingye stepped down on Friday after the club confirmed a Shs100 million fee for candidates, contradicting his earlier statement that the constitution only required Shs20 million.

"If this is true, I have officially resigned," Kasingye said on X, citing a lack of communication from the club leadership.

The resignation adds tension to the already heated race for the presidency of Uganda’s record league champions, with critics arguing the high fee could limit competition.

The row has exposed divisions within the club ahead of elections, which are already underway as candidates pick up nomination forms.
