Hundreds of Kira Residents Benefit from Free Medical Outreach by Rotary Club of Kira

Hundreds of residents of Kira Municipality turned up for a comprehensive free medical outreach organized by the Rotary Club of Kira at Zebra Sports Grounds.

The services offered included general medical checkups, eye examinations, diabetes and hypertension screening, HIV/AIDS testing, dental care, and family planning.

Eng. Joloba James, Unity President of the Rotary Club of Kira, explained that this was the second medical outreach within two months, following a successful initiative in Mityana. “We identified Kira because of the overwhelming health needs expressed by the community. Our aim is to bridge the gap in access to healthcare by bringing services closer to the people,” Eng. Joloba said.

He reaffirmed Rotary’s commitment to supporting underserved communities through humanitarian service.

The outreach had a significant impact, especially among residents who had gone years without medical checkups due to poverty.

Key partners in the initiative included C-Care Medical Center, which generously provided medication, medical equipment, and skilled medical professionals; Kira Health Center IV; and Rotarians from different Rotary clubs.

Additionally, the Rotary Club of Kira launched its 25th annual Cancer Run. Rtn. Meddie Lutaya, Chair Elect for the Rotary Cancer Run, stated that this year's event aims to raise Shs4 billion to support the completion of a state-of-the-art, one-stop cancer treatment center at Nsambya Hospital.
