Ugandan music star Eddy Kenzo has shared intimate details about his family background, speaking for the first time about his late mother, his father, and the roots that shaped his identity.

Despite his maternal roots, Kenzo emphasised that he considers himself fully Ugandan, having been born and raised in Ssenyange, Masaka, before later moving to Kampala. He said Masaka will always be home and that he wishes to be laid to rest there.
The singer also spoke about his father, the late Chef Ali from the Ankole region, explaining that he had kept this information private for years to avoid personal matters affecting his music career.
Kenzo added that the truth about his father only became public after President Yoweri Museveni mentioned it, leaving him little choice but to address it openly. He also revealed that growing up, he had believed someone else was his father and only learned the truth later in life.
