Gayaza Rotary Club Launches Safe Water Project at Gayaza Church of Uganda

The Rotary Club of Gayaza, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Calgary–Canada, has launched a major water project aimed at providing clean and safe water to communities in Gayaza, Kasangati Town Council, Wakiso District.

The project was officially launched at Gayaza Church of Uganda Primary School and Kaddongo Primary School. The launch was presided over by Rotary District Governor Geoffrey Kitakule during his official visit to Gayaza.

Governor Kitakule commended the Rotary Club of Gayaza for its efforts in mobilizing funds to support this critical initiative.

The dual-borehole project will include both a manual borehole and an electrified water pump system. It is being funded by contributions from the Rotary Club of Calgary and generous citizens in Canada who have sacrificed resources to ensure that both the schools and the surrounding communities have access to safe water.

The water project, valued at USD 30,000, will include the drilling and construction of a 20,000-litre water tank mounted on an 8-meter tower. Water will be distributed to key areas within the school—including the dormitory, kitchen, and playground—as well as a dedicated tap point for the surrounding community.

Special water access points will be strategically placed to benefit both schools and local residents, ensuring sustained impact on health, hygiene, and education outcomes.
