Iran Claims Access to Sensitive Israeli Intelligence

Tehran, June 8, 2025 — Iran’s Intelligence Minister Esmaeil Khatib has revealed that Tehran has acquired what he termed a “precious trove” of strategic, operational, and scientific intelligence relating to Israel, including sensitive files on its nuclear program and diplomatic ties.

Speaking to the state-run IRIB news agency on Sunday, Khatib hailed the acquisition as a “great intelligence achievement”, noting that the documents are expected to be made public soon. He claimed the files include information on Israel’s relations with the U.S., Europe, and other countries, and could enhance Iran’s offensive capabilities.

“This operation was complicated, large-scale, and lengthy, beginning with infiltration,” Khatib said, declining to specify the methods used to obtain the documents, citing national security.

According to IRIB, the operation required a period of media silence to ensure the safe transfer of the intelligence, with the volume of data so large it reportedly took weeks to process and review.

The announcement comes amid heightened tensions in the region. Recent U.S. intelligence reports have suggested that Israel may be preparing a military strike on Iranian nuclear facilities. Iran, meanwhile, has denied involvement in Houthi attacks on Israel, another point of friction fueling the broader regional standoff.

Context:

  • Israel has not yet officially responded to the claim.

  • If verified, the breach could mark one of the most significant Israeli intelligence failures in recent years.

  • The claim further escalates the already fraught Iran-Israel shadow conflict, playing out across diplomatic, cyber, and military fronts.
