President Museveni pays tribute to late primary school teacher

President Museveni has honoured his late former primary school teacher, Mzee George Kanyarwanda, describing him as a dedicated educator and community leader whose legacy will continue to inspire future generations.

The tribute was delivered on Museveni’s behalf by Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa during the burial in Igara East, Bushenyi District on Friday. Museveni recalled that Kanyarwanda taught him, the late Eriya Kategaya, and many others at Kyamate Primary School in the 1950s.

Tayebwa highlighted Kanyarwanda’s lifelong service, including roles as a teacher, businessman, farmer, and Gomborora Chief, noting that even in frail health he remained civically engaged, casting his vote in January 2026 for Museveni.

In his message, Museveni urged Kanyarwanda’s descendants to uphold the values he championed, while Tayebwa encouraged citizens to actively participate in development initiatives, echoing the President’s call to prioritize poverty reduction in the next term.
