Sudan Crisis: 64 Dead in Hospital Strike, Army Denies Involvement

Sudan’s military has denied carrying out a deadly airstrike on a major hospital in the western city of el-Daein, even as the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) accused it of launching a drone attack.

The strike on El-Daein Teaching Hospital killed at least 64 people — including children and medical staff — and injured dozens more, according to World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. The facility has since been rendered non-functional.

The RSF says the attack caused extensive destruction, while the army insists it respects international law and was not involved.

The incident adds to growing concerns over the targeting of healthcare facilities in the ongoing Sudan civil war (2023–present), which has claimed over 150,000 lives and displaced millions.

Rights groups are now demanding an independent investigation as calls for a ceasefire intensify.
