Bobi Wine Supports Children of Political Detainees as Schools Reopen
As schools reopen across Uganda, children of political detainees face uncertainty and hardship. National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, has stepped in to provide school fees, supplies, and emotional support to these families.
At his home in Magere, Bobi Wine distributed books, pens, sanitary items, bread, and financial assistance to cover school costs, reaching over 280 children.
Parents expressed gratitude, highlighting the relief and hope the initiative brings amid the challenges of political imprisonment.
NUP Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya emphasised the growing need, urging continued support from the public.
Bobi Wine encouraged children to remain focused on education as a pathway to a better future, while promising ongoing assistance for detainees’ families.
The initiative underscores the broader social impact of political detentions in Uganda, offering both practical aid and a message of solidarity, justice, and hope.
