Munyagwa Alleges NUP Uses Same Supporters to Inflate Rally Numbers

Presidential candidate Mubarack Munyagwa has accused the National Unity Platform (NUP) of using the same supporters at multiple regional rallies to project inflated popularity.

Speaking on NBS Television’s Morning Breeze talk show on Tuesday, Munyagwa, the flagbearer for the Common Man’s Party (CMP), alleged that NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, moves with a “fixed group” of supporters who appear at rallies across the country.

“Wherever Bobi Wine goes, you see the same faces, the same people pretending to be local supporters,” Munyagwa said.

He added that this approach is “not organic mobilization,” contrasting it with CMP’s model of smaller, community-focused rallies that attract residents from the areas themselves. This method, he explained, allows him to connect directly with voters and gauge genuine local support.

Munyagwa’s remarks come as opposition parties intensify campaigns ahead of the 2026 general elections, with new political formations seeking to challenge both the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) and NUP for influence.

Known for his outspoken style, Munyagwa emphasized that the CMP will focus on bread-and-butter issues such as unemployment, corruption, and inequality, positioning itself as the “true voice of the ordinary Ugandan.”
