Police in Kampala and Entebbe, working jointly with the Uganda National Bureau of Standards, have seized 7,970 rolls of substandard toilet paper in a coordinated operation targeting poor-quality products on the market.
The enforcement exercise followed complaints from members of the public over the circulation of substandard goods. Authorities carried out operations in several areas, including Katanga along Binaisa Road, where four suspects were arrested and are currently detained at Jinja Road Police Station.
Officials say the crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to protect consumers and ensure that goods sold on the market meet required quality standards.
Traders have been warned against engaging in the sale of substandard products, with authorities indicating that further inspections and enforcement operations will continue across different parts of the country.
The operation highlights increased regulatory vigilance aimed at safeguarding public health and ensuring compliance with national standards in Uganda’s consumer market.
