Watoto Church Dismisses Pastor Amid Sexual Immorality Allegations

Kampala — Watoto Church, one of Uganda’s largest evangelical congregations, announced the dismissal of a pastor following allegations of sexual immorality.

In a video message broadcast during services on Sunday, August 10, church leadership reiterated its commitment to upholding high moral standards and stressed that all leaders must exemplify these values.

Pastor Julius Rwotlonyo, team leader at Watoto Church Ministries, described the incident as “unfortunate” and a setback to the church’s core values. He called it a sad moment but reaffirmed the church’s resolve to walk in righteousness and hold members accountable to biblical teachings.

The church has withheld the identity of the pastor involved pending their response and did not disclose specific details of the misconduct.

Founded in 1984 as Kampala Pentecostal Church (KPC), Watoto Church has expanded into multiple campuses across Uganda. It is widely recognized for its worship services and community outreach initiatives, including the Watoto Child Care Ministries.

The church maintains a zero-tolerance policy for moral and ethical violations among its leaders, particularly concerning sexual immorality.

Violations are met with swift investigation and removal from leadership, underscoring the church’s emphasis on integrity, accountability, and moral responsibility.
